The great escape

On the 29 July 2007 Kate told us she would not go home without Madeleine. Gerry went all out on his mission to champion the cause of all abducted children, also making long term plans and events to keep Madeleine in the public eye. Kate said that Gerry was totally exhausted but the people of Praia Da Luz and holiday makers alike remarked that Gerry was in fact, particularly 'buoyant.' Just three months after Madeleine had 'disappeared' he was able to function normally, laugh, joke and organise events months in advance.

Was he buoyant at their extended vacation, the offer of free wine from the Tapas bar as and when required, meals cooked for them, the twins being looked after whilst they went jogging and played tennis?

Given the use of a private plane, they toured Europe raising awareness of missing children, but they didn't look for, or find Madeleine. They also left the twins behind in Praia Da Luz, very odd considering they had lost one of their children. Surely in normal circumstances they wouldn't have wanted them out of their sight, not hundreds of miles away not being able to hold, hug, kiss and reassure them that everything's going to be alright.

Back from the 'Tour' there were staged photo shoots for the press and still the children were dropped off at the creche whilst mummy and daddy did their own thing.

Enter the dogs Eddie and Keela on the 6th and 7th of august 2007. The results of the forensics which would have all fingers pointing in the McCanns direction. Eddie and Keela had been successful in 200+ cases but suddenly we had Gerry informing us that the dogs were extremely unreliable. The McCanns were in the frame, the tide had started to turn and the press stories being printed were not in their favour. On September 7, 2007 they were made arguidos, two days later they hotfooted it back to the UK, why the hurry if you're innocent?
